Popular tray top 4WD and 2WD vehicles that are fitted with ‘slide on’ style campers should be fitted with airbags.
These have the following benefits:
- Reducing body roll
- Keeping the front wheels in better contact with the road for improved braking and steering (particularly in damp conditions)
- Making loading and unloading of the slide on far easier. By using an air supply/in-cab control system in conjunction with airbags. Simply add pressure (adds height), drop the legs and then reduce the pressure, dropping height and driving away
- The airbags will minimise movement in the slide-on camper when occupants move about in it. This is important if someone is sleeping and does not want to sense movement
- Levelling the slide-on when the Ute is stopped on uneven ground. Simply use the air supply/in-cab air controls to level the camper via the vehicles suspension.
